Moving large wooden components with precision—in the warehouse and on the construction site
Field Test of the eT-Hover-panel Vacuum Lifter
Wooden components up to 14 meters long, two operating environments, and one goal: to lift, move, and precisely position large elements in a controlled manner. The eT-Hover-panel was tested for this purpose under real-world conditions in the factory and on the construction site.
When large components require flexible lifting technology
Large-format CLT elements, solid wood panels, or box-shaped components place high demands on handling. It’s not just dimensions and weight that matter: varying formats, spatial conditions, and precise positioning during the assembly process must also be taken into account.
This is exactly where the field test of the eT-Hover-panel came into play. The vacuum lifter was designed to integrate into existing workshop processes and prove its worth under real-world construction site conditions. During the test, wood components up to 14 meters in length were moved.
Field Test in the Factory
In the production hall, the eT-Hover-panel was deployed using the existing overhead crane. Components could be picked up from the stack, moved, and positioned for the next step in the process.
Adjustable suction plates make it possible to adapt the pickup points to different component sizes. This allows the configuration to be tailored to the specific application—an important factor when the same dimensions are not always processed during operation.
Compact enough to carry on the device, extendable as needed
The eT-Hover-panel can be extended for larger components. The crossbars required for this are attached directly to the unit in the compact configuration and are therefore always available during use. When needed, they are removed and mounted on the outside, on the left and right. This allows the length of the vacuum lifter to be adjusted to accommodate larger component dimensions without having to carry separate extension crossbars.
Self-Sufficient Operation on the Construction Site
The indoor test was followed by deployment at the construction site. There, the eT-Hover-panel was powered independently by its integrated diesel generator. An additional power source at the site was therefore not required for this test.
Control was via radio remote control. This allowed the vacuum lifter to be operated from a distance while the components were picked up, moved across the building, and positioned with precision. For use on the construction site, a self-retracting strap system was also used as a form-fitting holding device.
What the field test showed
• Wooden components up to 14 m long were moved in real-world applications.
• The eT-Hover-panel could be used both in the factory and on the construction site.
• Movable suction plates allowed for adaptation to different component sizes.
• Crossbeams carried directly on the unit could be mounted externally to extend the eT-Hover-panel for larger components.
• The integrated diesel generator enabled self-sufficient operation on the construction site.
• The radio remote control facilitated remote operation and controlled positioning.
• The self-retracting strap system served as an additional form-fitting retaining device on the construction site.
Rent, test it out for yourself, and make an informed decision
The best way to determine whether a vacuum lifter is suitable for your specific components, processes, and operating conditions is to test it in practice. That’s why the eT-Hover-panel is available for rent from euroTECH—for example, during project peaks, for special components, or for testing before making a potential investment decision.
Upon request, we can provide training and support throughout the project. In addition, our field service representatives travel throughout the DACH region and can assess your needs directly on-site with you.
